Why Choose My After School Art Classes?
Step-by-Step, Encouraging Teaching Style: Each week, I guide students gently through new techniques, building skills and confidence in a supportive environment and my teaching style encourages each child to work at their own pace.
Exciting Variety: We explore a wide range of media including pencil, coloured pencil, watercolours, acrylic paint, pastels, pen and more. Every week introduces fresh subjects and new creative experiences!
Incredible Benefits: Beyond creating amazing artwork, students grow in patience, confidence, focus, visual perception, resilience and self-expression — skills that support them across all areas of life.
Small, Supportive Class Sizes: Classes are small enough for personal attention and big enough for a fun, social atmosphere.
* Suitable for ages 10 to 13/14 years.
All Materials Provided: Your child just needs to bring their enthusiasm and a drink (a biscuit is provided for afternoon tea) — everything else is included!
Building a Lasting Journey: Each lesson we will create a different artwork to build skills and art confidence and your child will receive their own visual diary to use between projects and to take home at the end of each term. Your pre-teen will have the choice of working on my set lesson or a second option which often mirrors what my teens are working on. Towards the end of the term your child will work on their major (3) week Free Choice painting project.
Duration: Each lesson runs for 1.5hrs and children can also continue term after term as each term is different. They can even move up and into my Teen class when old enough and some of my students have been with me for years.

Managing Expectations
In my art classes and workshops, the focus is on nurturing creativity, building confidence, and supporting each child’s individual journey. I understand that many parents hope to see steady progress and polished artworks from their child each week — and while this does happen, it’s important to remember that often art is more about the process and learning more than the end product at this stage.
Children all work at their own pace and bring their own personalities, moods, and experiences to each session. Some will complete their artwork with focus and energy, while others may take longer or simply not feel in the creative zone that day — and that’s perfectly okay.
Each week, I guide the class through a set project with the goal of completing an artwork by the end of the lesson. However, not every child will finish each time. In most cases, there will be opportunities to complete unfinished work later in the term, or they are welcome to take it home and finish it in their own time.
I always encourage children to do their best, but I also honour their individuality. While not every piece will be “frame ready,” every lesson contributes to something greater — solidifying their art process, understanding and skill. Plus, the bonus of developing their fine motor skills, improving their focus, boosting their confidence and encouraging their self-expression. Over time, you will see real growth in your child’s artistic abilities, as well as long-lasting benefits to their mindset and wellbeing.
Art is a powerful tool for growing minds and I’m so glad to share this journey with your child.
Terms and Conditions - Please read.
Terms and Conditions – After School Art Classes
FIRST TIME STUDENTS’ PAYMENT: If your child has not attended my classes before, your ‘Holding Deposit’ payment is to REGISTER your child in my ‘After School Art Classes’. I cannot guarantee a spot for your child until closer to the end of the previous term, due to returning students. Spots are offered on a ‘FIRST COME’ basis so if you are keen for your child to attend my classes I would not delay in REGISTERING them by payment of a ‘HOLDING DEPOSIT’. No spots will be held without the payment of the ‘HOLDING DEPOSIT’. If I do not have a spot for your child for the term you have paid the ‘Holding Deposit’ for – I will REFUND your payment in FULL OR you can opt to have it moved to the next term.
EXISTING STUDENTS’ PAYMENT: If your child is currently booked into my TERM Art classes, they will be given FIRST PREFERENCE for the NEXT term. ‘Holding Deposits’ must be paid by the BEGINNING of WEEK 9 of the term they are in for the next term and the BALANCE of the TERM FEES must be paid TWO WEEKS prior to the start of the next term. As a lot of organization and planning goes into my classes, this time frame is necessary.
EARLY BIRD PAYMENT: I do offer an ‘Early Bird’ Discount for NEW and EXISTING students – please check the listing to be aware of the end date for my Early Bird offer. Early Bird payments are for FULL Term Payments ONLY.
REFUNDS:If you have registered your child with a ‘Holding Deposit’ OR ‘Full Payment’ please note if I do have a spot for your child and you change your mind – there are NO refunds available. By paying the ‘Holding Deposit’ or ‘Payment in FULL’ you are committed to paying the BALANCE owed (if any) and attending my Term Art Class allocated for your child. If your child can not attend due to extenuating circumstances, I can try to find a replacement (if there are children on my wait list) and if I can find a replacement student, I will refund you all monies paid less a ‘Handling Fee’ and less any classes that the replacement child could not attend. This is a necessary process as rarely do I fill Term spots once the class has started as parents have already made plans and as a small business, I cannot afford to be out of pocket due to a change of mind. Alternatively, if I fill the spot prior to the term starting, I can offer you a credit for the full amount paid, if you accept the offer of a credit you will have (3) months from this time to use the credit on a workshop or another class before it expires.
Please note, I work closely with your children every lesson to guide them through their art projects, however some students do not finish their work each lesson due to a variety of factors. I try to help them finish during the term but if they do not finish any projects, I do not offer any form of refund for unfinished work. I do however encourage them to take them home at the end of the term to complete.
ARTWORK: Your child is encouraged to take completed artwork home after each lesson, or they can keep in their folder and take them home at the end of the term. Any incomplete work will hopefully be finished by the end of the term to take home. If this is not possible, your child will be asked to take home their incomplete work to finish at home, at the end of the term. I will continue to keep artwork in the studio in their folder for one extra term, before removing. As a parent it is your responsibility to ensure you collect your child’s artwork in a timely fashion, if you do not take it home by the end of the term.
MISSING CLASS / BEING LATE/: Being on time is important as we have LOTS to do each class! Late arrivals are very distracting for the group and delay class, which can lead to unfinished projects and prevent class from finishing on time. If you know you’ll be late, please advise the studio ASAP. We greatly appreciate if you send a text or email ahead of time if your child will not be attending a scheduled class or will be late, it really helps with my planning and time management for the class.
PICK UP/DROP OFF: Pick-up – Please pick your child up at the finish of the class. Sometimes we may finish a couple of minutes early or a few minutes late depending on the project. I am normally in the studio for 15 minutes after the class finishes. If you are held up or will be late, please contact me ASAP. Drop-off – Doors will OPEN 15 minutes prior to the class starting – please don’t drop your children off prior to this time without first contacting me to check if this is ok, as I am normally very busy prior to the class starting – setting up.
MAKE UP CLASSES: As a parent myself I do know how stressful life can be, so I do offer make-up classes if your child is sick, or you are away etc. However, to qualify you MUST let me know prior to the class if your child will be missing the class. If you do not let me know you will not be offered a makeup class as I do spend a lot of time organizing and setting up the class for each student. Make-up classes can be done on any day Tuesday to Friday if I have availability and you do need to arrange this with me via text or email in advance. Make-up classes must be completed in the term that your child missed the lesson unless you have made other arrangements with me in advance. Baringa students will need to do their make-up classes at my studio in Warana. If your child is unable to continue for the term due to an important reason, please let me know as soon as possible. In some cases, I may offer a credit for missed lessons, which can be used for another term within the same calendar year unless you have made an alternative arrangement with me. While this is not guaranteed, I always do my best to accommodate families. Please note that refunds will not be provided for missed classes under any circumstances.
BEHAVIOUR GUIDELINES: I aim to maintain a respectful, patient, and creative learning environment. Please note that any disrespectful and disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. I will not put up with damaging any personal property, or negative/harmful behaviour towards other students. In the event of misconduct, parents will be called to pick up their child immediately. There will be NO refunds or credits for the missed time if a parent needs to be called if a child is not able to continue with the class either partially or permanently due to excessive, inappropriate, or disrespectful behaviour. Also, as Art is a much loved pastime for children with special needs, please do discuss your child’s needs with me if you have any questions or concerns before registering for my classes, as this is always beneficial.
EXPECTATIONS: I truly want every child to feel successful and proud of their artwork. I will do my best to help them learn new skills and create something they are excited about. However, please understand that all children have different skills, and finished projects will vary depending on the student, the effort they put into the project, and their ability to slow down, focus, and have good craftsmanship. These are skills that take time to build, and I am excited to help your child work on developing these artistic and life skills.
PASSION: I take my role seriously as a passionate teacher, and I will always do my best to be fair, understanding, and to kindly work with your child, guiding them to be their very best, ALWAYS.
CANCELLED CLASSES: Due to an unforeseen circumstance like illness, I will email and text if I cannot make a class and give as much notice as I can. I will also offer an online lesson to replace the missed lesson. If this happens more than once during any term I will offer a rescheduled class on an upcoming Saturday for any subsequent missed classes. Baringa students will do the rescheduled class at my Warana studio.
PHOTOS: I will sometimes use photos of your children whilst taking part in one of my classes to promote other classes and for other online marketing purposes. The children are generally excited to be photographed enjoying the class or with their artwork. If you are not comfortable with this, please advise me at the time of booking and please make your child aware so that during the class they know that they are not to be included in the photos.
CLOTHING / INJURY: Because your child will sometimes be using messy art supplies, it is your responsibility to make sure they are dressed in clothing that you are ok with getting stained or ruined. I do my best to cover their clothes with aprons and ensure that they know how to properly use art equipment but, I am not responsible for damaged clothing or any injuries from improperly using the art equipment.
